Connectbase adds IPAM module to streamline network provisioning

  • The IPAM module enables automation of IP address assignment and improves visibility into usage and availability.
  • It forms part of Connectbase’s broader push to digitise network infrastructure planning and provisioning processes.

What happened: Connectbase debuts automated IP address management module

US-based connectivity marketplace platform Connectbase has launched a new IP address management (IPAM) module. The addition is part of its ongoing expansion of The Connected World platform, which aims to improve how service providers handle infrastructure data. According to Capacity Media, the IPAM tool enables users to visualize, assign, and automate the provisioning of IPv4 and IPv6 address space.

The module is designed to support both current and future IP addressing needs, especially in environments where rapid scale or dynamic provisioning is required. It provides integrated tracking of allocated and available address blocks, reducing the risk of duplication or human error. Connectbase positions this as part of a broader shift towards network intelligence, enabling real-time data-driven decisions for operators and infrastructure providers.

Why it’s important: Network efficiency gains through IPAM automation

Manual IP address assignment remains a persistent bottleneck for many network operators. It introduces delays, increases operational costs, and often lacks central visibility—especially as networks scale or migrate to IPv6. By automating these tasks, Connectbase’s new IPAM module directly addresses inefficiencies in provisioning and network design.

With demand for bandwidth and edge connectivity rising, providers must manage increasingly complex IP address ecosystems. This tool offers a way to streamline resource allocation, support compliance with RIR policies, and minimise downtime associated with misconfiguration. It also aligns with industry-wide moves towards intent-based networking and infrastructure as code (IaC).

While Connectbase is not a traditional infrastructure vendor, its platform connects over 2,000 providers globally. Tools like the IPAM module suggest the company is evolving from a marketplace to an operational support layer for telecom services. This positions Connectbase as a digital infrastructure enabler, especially for providers needing faster service turn-up and automation-ready tools.
