    Infrastructure expansion in Africa

Cloudflare has significantly expanded its infrastructure across Africa to enhance internet performance and security. The company opened its first data centre on the continent in Johannesburg, South Africa, in December 2014. This was followed by additional data centres in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2017, and in Lagos, Nigeria, in 2018. These facilities are strategically located to reduce latency and improve the reliability of internet services for users across the region.

Cloudflare’s infrastructure supports various sectors, including e-commerce, education, and government services, by providing scalable and secure solutions. The company’s presence in Africa reflects its commitment to improving internet access and performance in emerging markets.

Services and impact on African markets

Cloudflare offers a range of services in Africa, including content delivery, DDoS protection, and web application firewall solutions. These services are designed to enhance the speed, security, and reliability of websites and applications. By leveraging its global network, Cloudflare helps African businesses and organisations deliver content more efficiently to users across the continent. The company’s services have been particularly beneficial in areas with limited internet infrastructure, where they help bridge connectivity gaps and improve user experience. Cloudflare’s impact in Africa extends beyond business, contributing to the development of digital infrastructure and the growth of the internet economy in the region.
