What happened: RIPE NCC shares quarterly plans for Q1 2025

RIPE NCC has revealed its Q1 2025 quarterly plans, providing a comprehensive outline of its development priorities. These plans aim to ensure transparency while inviting feedback from members and the broader internet community. Key focus areas include improvements to the RIPE Database, Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI), and RIPE Atlas. Additionally, the organisation will enhance tools like RIPEstat, DNS and K-root, and business applications such as the LIR Portal. Other initiatives target information security, compliance, and expanding training and certification programmes.

These plans allow RIPE NCC members to assess ongoing projects and offer their input to guide the organisation’s direction. By actively engaging its community, RIPE NCC ensures its activities align with the needs of an evolving internet ecosystem.

Why it’s important

RIPE NCC’s quarterly plans highlight its commitment to transparency and collaboration in strengthening global internet infrastructure. By prioritising projects like the RIPE Database and RPKI, the organisation helps secure and streamline internet resource management, a critical foundation for modern networks. Updates to RIPE Atlas and RIPEstat empower the community with better tools for network monitoring, analysis, and decision-making.

Additionally, the focus on training and certification is vital for building a skilled workforce that can tackle the challenges of cybersecurity and network reliability. With threats to digital infrastructure on the rise, RIPE NCC’s emphasis on security, compliance, and risk management ensures a resilient and trusted internet ecosystem. Quarterly updates like these encourage member participation and help maintain alignment with industry demands.
