What happened: ARIN introduces new programs to support IPv6 adoption

ARIN (American Registry for Internet Numbers) has launched a series of new initiatives aimed at supporting IPv6 adoption and improving internet resource management across North America. These initiatives include providing enhanced training programs, technical support, and resources to help organizations transition to IPv6 as the global supply of IPv4 addresses continues to deplete.

The announcement highlights ARIN’s ongoing efforts to ensure a smooth and efficient transition to IPv6. These new programs will assist internet service providers, network operators, and organizations in implementing IPv6, which is essential for supporting the growing number of connected devices and ensuring the continued growth of the internet.

Why it’s important

The depletion of IPv4 addresses poses a significant challenge for global internet connectivity. IPv6 adoption is crucial to supporting the increasing number of devices connected to the internet, from mobile phones to IoT devices. ARIN’s new initiatives will help organizations make the transition to IPv6 more efficiently, ensuring that North America remains at the forefront of global internet growth.

These initiatives also align with ARIN’s mission to promote the responsible management of internet resources, ensuring that the transition to IPv6 is as smooth and cost-effective as possible for all stakeholders.
