  • ARIN completes its consultation on enhancing the Reg-RWS API, including a method to identify the most specific NET object for a range.
  • Feedback from the community will guide future prioritisation, ensuring better support for Internet operations and growth.

What happened: What happened: ARIN reviews Reg-RWS feedback

The American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN) recently concluded a consultation, held from 3 to 20 December, seeking community feedback on improving the RESTful API used to manage registration records, Reg-RWS. Among the suggestions was creating an API method to determine the most specific NET object for a range. Following a thorough review of the comments received, ARIN announced plans to include this enhancement in its list of features for future prioritisation.

ARIN’s President and CEO, John Curran, expressed gratitude to participants, emphasising the critical role of community input in steering the organisation’s efforts.

Why it’s important

The proposed Reg-RWS API improvement aligns with ARIN’s mission to support the Internet’s operation and growth. By incorporating community-driven enhancements, ARIN ensures its tools remain responsive to evolving needs.

This new feature could streamline network management for organisations, enhancing operational efficiency and accuracy. ARIN’s commitment to feedback reflects broader trends in adaptive governance within the Internet infrastructure ecosystem, fostering collaboration and innovation.

The consultation highlights the value of member-driven policy development in addressing technical and operational challenges.
