  • Participants attend interactive sessions led by industry experts.
  • Workshops aim to strengthen technical skills and foster regional collaboration.

What happened: APNIC 60 workshops run from 4 to 8 September, offering engineers hands-on training in routing, network security, and operations

The APNIC 60 workshops kicked off on 4 September 2025 at the Furama Resort in Da Nang, Vietnam. Over five days, network engineers, architects, and system administrators are participating in hands-on sessions covering Advanced Routing, Network Monitoring, Security Operations, and IPv6 deployment. Each workshop combines practical exercises with expert guidance to ensure attendees can immediately apply new skills to real-world network scenarios.

Key sessions include Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) traffic engineering, DNS operations, and network security best practices. Trainers with deep experience in network design lead small-group labs, giving participants the chance to troubleshoot complex network issues collaboratively. The workshops also serve as preparation for the main APNIC 60 conference starting on 9 September, where these technical lessons will inform broader discussions on internet policy and regional networking strategies.

Why this is important

The workshops provide critical training for professionals operating increasingly complex networks. With growing internet traffic and cyber threats, practical knowledge in routing and security enables engineers to design, implement, and maintain resilient infrastructures. The sessions enhance operational skills that are directly applicable to enterprises, ISPs, and regional networks across the Asia-Pacific region.

Beyond technical learning, the workshops foster community collaboration. Participants exchange ideas, share experiences, and build professional connections that support regional internet development. The hands-on, peer-to-peer approach ensures knowledge spreads effectively and equips attendees for the main APNIC 60 conference from 9 to 11 September, where technical insights from the workshops will feed into discussions on policy, network governance, and future regional strategies.
