    Ghana National Petroleum Corporation: Company Overview

    The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) was established in 1983 under the GNPC Act, 1983 (PNDCL 64) to spearhead the exploration, development, and marketing of petroleum resources in Ghana. As the state-owned company tasked with overseeing the nation’s oil and gas resources, GNPC plays a crucial role in Ghana’s economic development. The corporation operates through partnerships with both international and local firms in upstream and downstream activities. It manages exploration licenses, oversees the development of oil fields, and ensures the safe and efficient distribution of petroleum products across the country.

    GNPC is at the forefront of ensuring that Ghana’s oil and gas sector benefits the local economy, contributing significantly to national revenue generation. Through strategic partnerships, the corporation has been involved in major oil discoveries, including the Jubilee field, one of the largest oil fields in West Africa.
