    • Academic and Institutional Development: 58 students received the MTN Bright Scholarship to support their studies, while staff were trained on a new Accreditation Management Information System to improve academic and operational standards.
    • Global Engagement and Partnerships: The DS-I Africa meeting strengthened health partnerships across the continent, and the UG School of Law hosted the 2nd International Conference on Ocean Governance, tackling pressing global maritime challenges.

    Empowering Students and Staff

The University of Ghana has once again shown its commitment to supporting students. This year, 58 students were awarded the MTN Bright Scholarship for the 2025/2026 academic year. By easing financial pressures, the scholarship allows students to concentrate on their studies and make a meaningful impact in their communities.

At the same time, the university has trained staff on a new Accreditation Management Information System. This tool is designed to make accreditation processes more efficient and ensure that all programmes meet both national and international standards. By doing so, UG strengthens its reputation for high-quality teaching and operational excellence.

    Strengthening Global Connections

The University of Ghana is not just focused on local impact. The recent DS-I Africa meeting brought together key stakeholders to build stronger partnerships aimed at improving health outcomes across Africa. Meanwhile, the UG School of Law hosted the 2nd International Conference on Ocean Governance, providing a platform for experts to tackle pressing maritime issues and develop strategies for sustainable ocean management.

These initiatives highlight UG’s role as a hub for research, innovation, and international collaboration, influencing both national and global development agendas.

    A Tradition of Excellence

Founded in 1948 as the University College of the Gold Coast, the University of Ghana is the nation’s premier university. It gained full autonomy in 1961, allowing it to award its own degrees. Today, UG aspires to be a world-class research-intensive university, offering cutting-edge research and high-quality teaching that contribute meaningfully to national and global development.

Through scholarships, staff training, and international partnerships, the University of Ghana continues to uphold its reputation as a leader in higher education, fostering innovation, academic excellence, and global engagement.
