Sibanye-stillwater strengthens recycling operations
Sibanye-stillwater, a multinational mining and metals processing group, has expanded its recycling capabilities through the acquisition of Metallix Refining, a U.S.-based precious metals recycler. Metallix operates two processing plants in North Carolina, producing significant quantities of gold, silver, platinum group metals, rhodium, iridium, and copper annually. This move complements Sibanye-stillwater’s existing U.S. recycling facilities in Montana and Pennsylvania, enhancing processing capacity and technical expertise.
The acquisition is expected to improve the company’s logistics network and sourcing flexibility, allowing Sibanye-stillwater to better serve different regions. By integrating Metallix’s operations, the company can optimise recovery rates and contribute to the efficiency of global precious metals supply chains.
