Sahal Telecom Somalia boosts mobile access with 4G LTE deployment

Sahal Telecom Somalia has taken a significant step forward in improving mobile connectivity by partnering with Glocall Telecoms LLC and US-based TAZCA Connects to roll out a new 4G LTE network in Mogadishu. This initiative targets enhanced internet performance for both consumers and businesses, with an emphasis on improved coverage, higher speeds, and lower latency. By leveraging cloud-based virtualised RAN technology, the partnership promises scalable, reliable connectivity with reduced operating costs—critical for a region often challenged by high infrastructure expenses.

The deployment marks a milestone in Somalia’s evolving digital landscape, where mobile technology plays a crucial role in driving economic and social progress. With many Somalis relying on mobile broadband for daily communication, banking, and commerce, Sahal Telecom’s investment in LTE solutions is both timely and necessary. The 4G rollout addresses an urgent demand for quality mobile service and opens new pathways for digital inclusion in underserved areas of Mogadishu.

Sahal Telecom Somalia adapts amid industry challenges and innovation

The Somali telecom industry, while vibrant, faces persistent hurdles—including fragile infrastructure, regulatory uncertainty, and limited international connectivity. Despite these issues, operators like Sahal Telecom Somalia continue to make headway by embracing next-generation technologies. Glocall Telecoms, a global digital infrastructure provider with a focus on developing markets, brings its expertise in cost-efficient cloud-native telecom solutions to support Sahal’s expansion. According to Glocall Telecoms, its mission is to build accessible, sustainable telecom networks in underserved regions, making this collaboration a strategic fit.

Sahal’s efforts reflect a broader trend of innovation in frontier telecom markets, where cloudification, edge computing, and open-access architecture are reshaping service delivery. The new network not only strengthens Sahal’s position in a competitive market but also contributes to Somalia’s digital resilience. By investing in future-proof infrastructure, Sahal Telecom Somalia signals its readiness to meet growing consumer demand while helping bridge the digital divide across the Horn of Africa.
