  • Orascom Construction operates in over 25 countries, with a strong focus on infrastructure, industrial, and commercial projects in the Middle East, Africa, and the United States.
  • The company owns 50% of BESIX Group and has significant investments in building materials, facility management, and equipment services.

Orascom Construction: A legacy of excellence

Founded in 1950, Orascom Construction has grown into a global leader in the engineering and construction sector. With dual listings on the UAE and Egyptian stock exchanges, the company has consistently ranked among the world’s top contractors. Its diverse portfolio includes high-profile projects such as the Grand Egyptian Museum, Greater Cairo Metro, and the New Administrative Capital’s monorail system.

Despite facing economic challenges in its home market, including currency fluctuations and inflation, Orascom Construction has demonstrated resilience. CEO Osama Bishai highlighted the company’s strategic shift towards international markets, particularly in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, to mitigate risks associated with the Egyptian market .

In 2024, Orascom Construction secured a significant contract to build the New American University in Cairo campus expansion, comprising five state-of-the-art buildings and infrastructure works . This project underscores the company’s commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure in Egypt.

Pioneering sustainable infrastructure

Orascom Construction is at the forefront of sustainable development in Egypt. In 2025, the company commenced commercial operations on the 650 MW Red Sea Wind Farm six months ahead of schedule . This achievement aligns with Egypt’s renewable energy goals and demonstrates Orascom’s capability in executing large-scale, environmentally friendly projects.

Looking ahead, Orascom Construction aims to reduce its operations in Egypt to a third by 2026, focusing on expanding its presence in international markets. This strategic move is expected to diversify revenue streams and strengthen the company’s position in the global construction industry .
