  • BODIVA facilitates secondary, corporate debt and equity markets in Angola, enabling listings like Sonangol’s subsidiaries.
  • The exchange supports capital mobilisation with regulated trading platforms and investor-friendly transparency measures.

BODIVA modernises Angola’s stock exchange

The Angola Debt and Stock Exchange (BODIVA), founded in 2014 and headquartered in Luanda, is the country’s official securities exchange. Since launching its secondary public debt market in December 2014, BODIVA has steadily expanded its offerings—introducing corporate debt in 2018 and launching an equity market segment in 2022. Notable early listings include Sonangol’s stake in Banco Angolano de Investimentos. The exchange operates in kwanza, utilises regulated platforms for debt and equity trading, and ensures fair market access via a clear legal and procedural framework.

BODIVA evolves capital markets amid Angola’s economic shift

BODIVA is spearheading financial innovation in Angola’s public markets. It is now aiming to list at least ten companies—including state giants Sonangol and Endiama—by 2028, under the government’s privatisation programme. The exchange also recorded record transaction volumes, launched SME-friendly segments, and partnered with international bodies like the World Federation of Exchanges to enhance credibility and compliance.
BODIVA faces broader industry challenges: developing liquidity, increasing investor participation, and deepening instrument variety remain pressing tasks. With regulated governance, investor education programmes, and technological improvements like a settlement guarantee fund, BODIVA is paving the way for a robust, diversified capital market in Angola—driving long-term economic transformation.
