MTL Malawi: National carrier offering diverse internet services

Malawi Telecommunications Ltd (MTL) is Malawi’s incumbent fixed-line carrier and ISP. It delivers integrated voice and data services—ranging from wired and wireless fixed voice lines to 4G broadband—in both residential and business sectors. MTL distinguishes its offerings with dedicated brands like HomeLink for households and BusinessNET and CarrierNET for business and wholesale clients.

MTL Malawi: Powerful 4G & wholesale broadband portfolios

MTL’s 4G service provides fast, flexible internet using daily, weekly, and monthly bundles—ideal for heavy users and institutions. Its wholesale CarrierNET delivers fibre-quality bandwidth to ISPs nationwide.

MTL Malawi: Value-added ICT and business solutions

Beyond connectivity, MTL resells Microsoft 365 and cloud PBX services, supports IP hosting and VPNs, and offers voice recording solutions. It emphasises cybersecurity and modern workplace deployments to complement its core infrastructure.

MTL Malawi: Business scope and governance

As a private company under Press Corporation consortium (80%) and the government (20%), MTL employs around 1,000 staff across six departments. It operates from three major regional offices in Blantyre, Lilongwe, and Mzuzu, ensuring nationwide reach.
