Mossnet cc: Powering wholesale fibre and VoIP services

    • Mossnet holds I-ECS and I-ECNS licences, delivering wholesale fibre, hosted PBX, VoIP billing, and peering support to regional ISPs and businesses.
    • Based in George, it helps bridge telecom infrastructure gaps in Western Cape, offering reliable services where national operators fall short.

Mossnet cc grows as a wholesale backbone for the Western Cape

Mossnet cc, a wholesale licensed Internet Service Provider based in George, South Africa, operates under I-ECS and I-ECNS licences issued by ICASA. Founded in 1996 and providing internet services since 2009, it delivers fibre connectivity, hosted PBX, Level 2 and 3 routing, and VoIP billing systems to WISPs and SMEs across the Western Cape. Mossnet’s ASN 328461 peers with more than 18 networks and maintains two upstreams—Telkom SA and Cape Connect. It supports both IPv4 and IPv6 prefixes and maintains active links to internet exchange points (IXPs), enabling stable local and national routing.

Its services range from 10 Mbps to 10 Gbps and are marketed towards smaller ISPs that require flexible, scalable infrastructure without relying on South Africa’s major telcos. The company also provides back-end systems, including VoIP platform provisioning, SIP trunks and cloud-based billing tools.

Mossnet cc fills the middle-mile gap for smaller operators

Fibre roll-out in South Africa remains concentrated in urban hubs, leaving many semi-rural areas reliant on wireless or suboptimal links. Mossnet cc plays a crucial middle-mile role by enabling smaller WISPs and IT companies to offer enterprise-grade telecoms using its wholesale infrastructure. Its cloud-based PBX and VoIP billing systems support SMEs transitioning from legacy analogue systems to more modern digital tools.

This is especially relevant in regions like George, where larger ISPs often overlook service delivery, leaving space for smaller, agile operators. By offering scalable bandwidth and SIP infrastructure with local support, Mossnet helps preserve competitive balance and fosters digital inclusion. Still, the firm faces pressure from bandwidth pricing, regulatory updates, and growing competition from major telco consolidation. Continued growth will depend on maintaining reliable interconnectivity, affordable access plans and responsive WISP support.
