    • Investec introduces multicurrency pockets with Intelligent Routing for seamless cross-border transactions.
    • The bank enhances private banking through digital solutions and strategic currency management.

    Investec Bank’s new multicurrency innovation

Investec Bank has launched a market-leading multicurrency pockets feature for its Private Bank Accounts, designed to simplify international spending for clients. The account enables transactions in four currencies using a single credit card, offering a seamless experience whether travelling, shopping online, or managing international expenses. Through the bank’s Intelligent Routing™, transactions automatically process in the appropriate currency pocket or in rands without manual intervention, enhancing convenience and efficiency. Clients can also earn unlimited Investec Rewards on all spending, regardless of the currency used.

Head of Investec Private Bank, Itumeleng Merafe, highlights the client-centric approach: “In today’s interconnected world, our clients demand banking solutions that align with their international lifestyles…Our multicurrency pockets for Private Bank Accounts have been designed precisely to meet these evolving needs in an increasingly digital and borderless financial landscape.” With the ability to open currency pockets for dollars, pounds, and euros in just five clicks via Investec Online or the app, users no longer need multiple single-currency cards or cumbersome currency conversions.

Investec Bank addresses global banking challenges

By addressing issues like administrative expenses, cross-border transaction complexity, and foreign exchange volatility, the new multicurrency offering places Investec Bank at the forefront of private banking innovation. The bank offers both convenience and financial benefits by allowing customers to fund their pockets immediately while keeping strategic control over currency management. By enabling clients to keep their money in foreign currencies for later use, Intelligent RoutingTM can be turned off for a particular pocket, giving them flexibility when it comes to organising vacations or foreign expenses.

Investec Bank continues to integrate advanced digital banking solutions, including real-time transaction monitoring, multicurrency management, and private banking services tailored to sophisticated client needs. Merafe emphasises: “We didn’t just bring another multicurrency product to market; we leapfrogged existing solutions to deliver a truly borderless private banking experience.” This innovation reflects the bank’s commitment to combining technology with private banking expertise, redefining international banking for South African residents with global financial commitments.
