  • Frogfoot Networks addresses service disruption in George due to civil works while driving open-access fibre growth.
  • Fibre-to-the-home expansion continues across South Africa’s secondary towns through acquisitions and technical innovation.

Frogfoot: Disruption and resilience at Frogfoot networks

Frogfoot Networks has issued a service notice indicating that customers in George are experiencing fibre disruption due to ongoing civil works in the area. The company emphasises that it is actively monitoring the situation and working to restore service as quickly as possible. This incident highlights the operational challenges faced by infrastructure providers when external factors—such as municipal roadworks—affect network stability.

Despite these setbacks, the company continues to champion the open-access fibre model, which allows multiple Internet Service Providers to deliver services over its network. This approach not only enhances competition but also provides customers with greater flexibility and resilience, even when short-term outages occur.

Frogfoot: Expanding reach and innovation at Frogfoot

From its About Us profile, Frogfoot describes itself as a leading open-access fibre infrastructure provider committed to connecting both homes and businesses nationwide. With a particular focus on data-starved secondary towns, the company’s expansion strategy centres on delivering fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) and fibre-to-the-business (FTTB) solutions beyond South Africa’s major cities.

Recent growth has been fuelled by the acquisition of Link Africa’s FTTH assets in the Western Cape, significantly increasing the number of homes passed and strengthening its position as one of the country’s top fibre network operators. In parallel, Frogfoot has introduced technical upgrades such as pushable and spliceless FTTH technology, enhancing efficiency and scalability while expanding its coverage to thousands of buildings across multiple provinces.
