  • Emstret Holdings Limited is a Papua New Guinea-based Internet Service Provider (ISP) founded in 2014.
  • The company offers broadband services through fibre, VSAT, and fixed wireless technologies, focusing on both urban and rural communities.

Emstret’s mission and services

Emstret Holdings Limited is a homegrown ISP in Papua New Guinea, established to revolutionise communication by connecting remote sites and workers. The company provides internet connectivity through fibre and VSAT connections to both corporate customers and home users. Additionally, Emstret is rolling out Wi-Fi hotspots and fixed wireless services using point-to-point link technology in Port Moresby City.

Emstret’s services aim to bridge the digital divide by offering affordable and reliable internet solutions, enabling access to email, web browsing, video transmissions, Voice over IP (VoIP) services, and other IP applications for enterprises, public institutions, and individual users.

Technology and impact

Emstret utilises Kacific broadband satellite technology, manufactured by Boeing and launched by SpaceX. This next-generation geostationary satellite operates in the Ka-band frequency spectrum, providing low-cost, high-speed, and reliable broadband via 56 powerful spot beams. Its wide-reaching coverage extends over 25 countries in the Asia Pacific region, including islands, mountainous, and rural areas.

The company’s commitment to digital equity is evident in its efforts to bring affordable internet connectivity to underserved communities in Papua New Guinea. By providing access to reliable internet, Emstret supports better education, healthcare services, and economic development across the country.
