  • DEDE is a government department focused on renewable energy and energy conservation.
  • It offers a wide range of services, including technology promotion and energy statistics.

Renewable energy development and conservation initiatives

The Department of Alternative Energy Development and Energy Conservation (DEDE) is a key government body under the Ministry of Energy in Thailand, dedicated to promoting the use of alternative energy sources and enhancing energy conservation efforts. Established to address the growing need for sustainable energy solutions, DEDE plays a crucial role in driving policies and initiatives that support the transition to renewable energy. The department oversees various programmes aimed at developing alternative energy resources, such as biofuels and solar power, and provides support for research and development in these areas.

Additionally, DEDE is responsible for promoting energy conservation practices across different sectors, offering technical assistance and resources to help businesses and individuals reduce their energy consumption. Through its comprehensive approach, DEDE aims to contribute to Thailand’s energy security and environmental sustainability.

Comprehensive energy solutions and policy implementation

DEDE’s mandate extends beyond policy-making to include the implementation of practical solutions for energy sustainability. The department operates several divisions, each focusing on a specific aspect of alternative energy and conservation. For instance, the Renewable Energy Development Division works on expanding the use of solar, wind, and biomass energy, while the Energy Conservation Promotion Division focuses on improving energy efficiency in industries and households.

DEDE also maintains a comprehensive database of energy statistics, providing valuable insights for policymakers and researchers. By integrating these efforts, DEDE aims to create a holistic framework that supports the growth of renewable energy and the reduction of carbon emissions. As Thailand continues to face challenges related to energy demand and environmental impact, DEDE’s work remains essential in guiding the country towards a more sustainable future.
