Built for connectivity, trusted by enterprise clients
CommCarrier Satellite Services Limited, founded in 1995 and based in Nairobi, is one of Kenya’s oldest satellite communication providers. The company specializes in enterprise-grade VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal)networks, offering both shared and dedicated broadband internet, VPN, VoIP, and video-conferencing infrastructure. Its systems use DVB-S2 technology and link directly to satellite hubs via secure teleport infrastructure, delivering last-mile connectivity in areas underserved by fiber or mobile networks.
CommCarrier’s clients include ministries, parastatals, banks, schools, and regional development agencies that require high uptime, multi-site networking, and custom SLA guarantees. It also provides B2B support for ISPs and ICT integrators through white-label solutions. The company continuously invests in engineering talent and local training, working with certified technical partners across East and Central Africa. Its Nairobi hub is ISO-certified, and CommCarrier is licensed by the Communications Authority of Kenya to provide both public data services and corporate ICT infrastructure.

Scaling East Africa access through Ku-band satellite
In 2023, CommCarrier secured a strategic agreement with Azerbaijan’s national satellite operator Azercosmos, gaining access to Ku-band capacity on Azerspace-2 to expand satellite coverage across Eastern and Central Africa. This deal allows CommCarrier to offer higher bandwidth, lower latency, and improved reliability to both public and private clients—including education providers, rural clinics, and remote government installations.
CEO Giri Babu noted the move strengthens Kenya’s position as a regional satellite hub and supports national digital inclusion goals. Additionally, CommCarrier is working with local counties to develop satellite-powered eLearning and eHealth platforms, leveraging Azerspace-2’s coverage in remote counties such as Marsabit and Turkana. With rising demand for cloud services and remote collaboration tools, the Ku-band investment places CommCarrier at the center of Africa’s enterprise digitization shift. It also lays the groundwork for future 5G backhaul and smart village connectivity models.
