  • Chenguang Biotech Group Co., Ltd. (300138) now holds a solid position among the top producers of plant extracts worldwide.
  • Its plants run under cGMP and ISO frameworks, and the company’s Kosher, Halal and FDA approvals stand as proof of careful compliance and trust in its quality.

Chenguang Biotech’s growth and focus

Founded originally as a pigment-extraction enterprise, Chenguang Biotech evolved into a high-tech listed company specialising in extracting and purifying “natural colours, natural spice extracts and essential oils, natural sweeteners, nutrition and medicinal extracts, plant oils and proteins”. The company describes itself on LinkedIn as devoted to those categories, with more than ten subsidiary companies overseas.

Chenguang positions its mission around “building a world natural extract industry base and contributing to human health”. It has earned industry accolades: including China’s “single champion” manufacturing enterprise status, the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and substantial patent and R&D credentials. Its product portfolio spans six major series with over a hundred individual products, serving food, beverages, cosmetics, health-care and feed industries.

Industry context and challenges

The global plant extract industry is undergoing strong growth, driven by shifting consumer demand for clean-label, natural and functional ingredients. Asia-Pacific in particular is seeing rapid expansion thanks to raw-material advantages, increasing health awareness and integration across food, beverage and personal-care sectors. That’s the current read on plant extracts worldwide, lifted by clean-label and functional demand. Asia–Pacific contributes an outsized share thanks to raw-material strengths and the spread of extracts across food, drinks, and beauty.

Chenguang Biotech commands respect in its domain for several reasons. Its long-standing manufacturing credentials and technology leadership give it a depth of expertise that newer entrants lack. Its international certifications and broad export footprint underline its global seriousness. The company’s ability to scale production of key extracts—such as paprika oleoresin and capsicum oleoresin—places it among world-leaders in those segments.
