  • C-Squared is a key player in the African broadband infrastructure space.
  • The company is overcoming challenges of accessibility and affordability to drive digital inclusion.

C-Squared Limited is a technology company that stands at the forefront of Africa’s digital transformation. Founded in 2014, the company has been pivotal in providing open-access broadband infrastructure to both urban and rural areas across the continent. With a mission to promote digital inclusivity, C-Squared builds and manages broadband networks that enable reliable internet connectivity for service providers, businesses, and consumers.

C-Squared’s contribution to Africa’s broadband infrastructure

C-Squared’s core business is the creation and management of digital infrastructure that connects underserved areas to the internet. The company’s services are built on a model of open-access broadband, meaning that multiple Internet Service Providers (ISPs) can access and use their networks to deliver high-speed internet to end-users. This model reduces the barriers to market entry and makes broadband more affordable for both providers and consumers.

One of C-Squared’s most significant projects is its national fibre-optic network, which spans several African countries, including Uganda, Ghana, and Zambia. By creating high-capacity data networks that reach previously underserved regions, C-Squared is helping to expand access to digital services such as e-health, e-education, and e-commerce.

Overcoming challenges and driving innovation

The broadband sector in Africa faces several challenges, including infrastructure limitations, high costs, and low digital literacy. However, C-Squared has made significant strides in addressing these issues. The company’s partnerships with local governments and international investors have facilitated the roll-out of broadband networks in rural and remote areas, providing access to high-speed internet where it was once unavailable.

Innovation is also at the heart of C-Squared’s operations. By leveraging emerging technologies such as 5G and satellite connectivity, the company is working to future-proof its infrastructure and provide even faster, more reliable internet access. C-Squared’s investments in renewable energy sources for its data centres are also setting a new standard for sustainability in the tech industry.
