    • The Botswana Fibre Network Corporation (BoFiNet), in collaboration with MCKT, has provided support to three families in need in Ganzi.
    • BoFiNet’s support project and MICT’s visit demonstrate the two countries’ joint efforts in cooperation and community development.
    • BoFiNet has been charged with the responsibility of running an important national strategic asset in the high capacity fibre network within Botswana.

Botswana Fibre Networks Corporation (BoFiNet) recently partnered with the Ministry of Communications, Knowledge and Technology (MCKT) and the Botswana Centre for Digital and Innovation (BDIH) to provide support to three poor families in Ganzi. BoFiNet has pledged £20,000 ($25,536) towards this initiative to demonstrate its commitment to social responsibility.

BoFiNet subsidises poor families to show social responsibility

Botswana Fibre Networks (BoFiNet), in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications, Knowledge and Technology (MCKT) and the Botswana Digital and Innovation Hub (BDIH), recently supported three families in need in Ghanzi. BoFiNet pledged £20,000 ($25,536) towards this initiative, showcasing its commitment to social responsibility.

The project includes renovating a house for a family of eight to improve their living conditions and provide a safer, more comfortable environment for the family members. It also involves installing electrical wiring in the home of a person with disabilities, which is crucial for enhancing their quality of life, ensuring accessibility, and ensuring safety. Additionally, the project addresses basic living needs by connecting water services for a low-income family.

BoFiNet projects and MICT visit strengthen bilateral relations

These projects were officially handed over on May 31, 2024, in Ghanzi. The event coincided with a visit by the Namibian Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) from the 30th of May 2024 to the 2nd of June 2024.

Additionally, MICT-Namibia committed to furnishing the renovated house for the family of eight, further improving their quality of life. This initiative highlights the dedication of both ministries to make meaningful contributions to community development.

MICT’s visit includes bilateral exchanges aimed at boosting relations between the two countries. This bilateral event not only strengthens the ties between the two countries, but also shows a determination to improve the lives of poor areas. BoFiNet’s support project and MICT’s visit demonstrate the two countries’ joint efforts in cooperation and community development.

Rainfall to Batswana brings life and goodness. The establishment of BoFiNet should be regarded as a positive sign of good things to come for this reason. BoFiNet is poised to work tirelessly in the background delivering good things and contributing positively to shaping the country’s ICT industry.
