    • Sky Cable Corp., a subsidiary of ABS-CBN, has partnered with Converge ICT to upgrade its network and enhance services by utilising Converge’s extensive pure fibre network.
    • This collaboration aims to deliver faster, superior, and more reliable internet services to Sky Fibre subscribers, aligning with Sky’s broader transformation plan for improved products and operational efficiency.
    • Converge, benefiting from optimised network utilisation and increased revenue, supports this mission to provide world-class connectivity across the Philippines.

Sky Cable Corp., a subsidiary of ABS-CBN, has announced a strategic commercial arrangement with Converge Information and Communications Technology Solutions, Inc., the leading fibre broadband provider in the Philippines. This collaboration aims to upgrade Sky’s network infrastructure and enhance service offerings for its subscribers.

By leveraging Converge’s extensive pure fibre network, Sky Cable Corp. is set to deliver faster, superior, and more reliable internet services to both new and existing Sky Fibre subscribers. Converge’s state-of-the-art fibre network, which spans over 700,000 kilometres and covers 16 million Filipino homes, will be instrumental in this transformation.

Converge has built a superior state of the art fibre network nationwide

Sky Chairman Mark Lopez highlighted the significance of this partnership, stating, “Converge has built a superior state of the art fibre network nationwide that Sky customers will soon experience.”

Sky President and Chief Operations Officer Claudia Suarez echoed this sentiment, noting that the collaboration with Converge aligns with Sky’s broader transformation plan aimed at enhancing products and services. “Through the arrangement with Converge, we expect Sky and its subscribers to benefit from the world-class fibre network that Converge has built over the last few years,” she said.

From Converge’s perspective, this arrangement will optimise their network utilisation and boost revenue. Converge President and Co-Founder Maria Grace Uy explained, “This will be a revenue boost for Converge consistent with similar arrangements with other players as we are able to continue to monetise further our excess network capacity.”

    The latest optical fibre technology

Converge, known for having the largest fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network in the Philippines with over eight million ports, currently serves 2.3 million residential broadband subscribers. CEO and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony Uy expressed his enthusiasm for aiding Sky in its transformation journey. “As everyone knows, the first business that I built on my own was in cable television and with the increasing availability of fibre technology in the early 2000s outside the Philippines, my wife Grace and I decided to enter the fixed broadband business. So, I’m really excited that we are able to help Sky, the leader in the cable business, in its own transformation program by providing them the latest optical fibre technology,” he said.

Converge Chief Operations Officer Jesus Romero assured that Sky subscribers will experience enhanced broadband speeds and connectivity with this new fibre infrastructure. Carlo Katigbak, president and CEO of ABS-CBN and a director at Sky, expressed confidence in the partnership’s potential to improve customer experience. “We believe that this is the best way to move forward and stay focused on delivering superior customer experience,” he said.

In addition to the network upgrade, Sky’s transformation program includes initiatives to increase operational efficiency, enforce greater financial discipline, and implement organisational improvements.
