What happened: Oxigen expands operations with new data centre

Oxigen has announced the opening of its largest and second data centre in Sant Cugat del Vallès, Spain. This state-of-the-art facility, spanning 6,000 square metres, is a result of an ongoing collaboration with Vertiv, a leader in critical infrastructure solutions. The new site features a 3,000-square-metre operations clean room, capable of housing up to 800 racks, alongside advanced power and customisation options to cater to diverse customer needs across various industries, including pharmaceuticals, industrial sectors, and public institutions.

The facility incorporates Vertiv technologies, including Liebert AFC chillers for cooling fluid temperature control and Liebert CRV row-based cooling systems to manage temperature and humidity levels around high-demand racks. Oxigen CEO Benjamin Rovira highlighted the long-term partnership with Vertiv, acknowledging their professionalism and ability to meet evolving technological requirements. The new data centre is expected to support emerging workloads such as AI, with a design that aligns with Uptime Institute’s Tier III standards, ensuring high availability and redundancy.
