    Mobily lands Africa-1 submarine cable in Saudi Arabia

    What happened: Mobily lands Africa-1 submarine cable, boosting connectivity and supporting Saudi Vision 2030

    Mobily, Saudi Arabia’s leading telecommunications provider, has successfully landed the Africa-1 submarine cable in the Kingdom. This milestone is key to enhancing regional and global connectivity. The cable spans 10,000 km, with a high capacity of 96 terabits per second, connecting Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Europe.

    The Africa-1 cable boosts Mobily’s broadband capacity and strengthens its global network. It will support faster, more resilient data transmission for 5G, artificial intelligence, IoT devices, and cloud services. The cable will also contribute to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, positioning the Kingdom as a digital hub and leading the region’s digital economy. The cable is expected to be fully operational by early 2026.
