    • Four APNIC EC positions will be filled during elections at APNIC 59 on 27 February 2025.
    • APNIC Members must submit nominations online by 17:30 (UTC +10) on 6 February 2025.

What happened: APNIC 59 announces EC nominations deadline

The Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) has announced the opening of nominations for four Executive Council (EC) positions, with elections set to take place at the upcoming APNIC 59 conference on 27 February 2025. These positions offer a pivotal role in shaping the future direction of APNIC and its policies.

Nominations are now being accepted and must be submitted through the official [online nomination form] by 17:30 (UTC +10) on 6 February 2025.

APNIC Members are encouraged to participate in the nomination process, which must be authorised by their organisation’s Corporate Contact. Interestingly, nominees do not need to represent an APNIC Member organisation, creating an inclusive opportunity for candidates with diverse perspectives and backgrounds.

The Electoral Committee will oversee the eligibility and conduct of all nominees, ensuring a fair and transparent process. This election represents an important milestone for APNIC, strengthening its governance and highlighting its commitment to the global Internet community.

With this significant leadership opportunity, APNIC is inviting broad participation to drive its mission forward.

    Why it’s important

APNIC plays a vital role in strengthening Internet infrastructure across the Asia Pacific region, managing critical resources like IP address allocations while fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders. Its Executive Council (EC) is instrumental in setting the organisation’s strategic direction, ensuring that the needs and voices of its broad membership are well-represented.

The upcoming election is a key event with far-reaching implications for APNIC’s policies, including pivotal areas such as network security, IPv6 adoption, and bridging digital divides. By maintaining a transparent and inclusive nomination process, APNIC demonstrates its commitment to openness and fair representation.

Participation in this process empowers members to influence decisions that shape the region’s Internet ecosystem. With the nomination deadline fast approaching, stakeholders are urged to act swiftly, ensuring strong leadership to guide the organisation’s mission into the future.
