  • The move aims to bolster sales figures and support merchants with innovative digital payment options.

What happened: Paymob brings Apple Pay to Egyptian merchants

Paymob, a leading financial technology provider, has announced the introduction of Apple Pay to its merchant network across Egypt. This strategic move is designed to empower businesses by offering secure, seamless, and contactless payment options to their customers. With Apple Pay, merchants can provide a more efficient checkout process while appealing to tech-savvy consumers who prioritize convenience and security.

The integration is part of Paymob’s mission to modernize Egypt’s payment ecosystem by promoting cashless transactions. By leveraging Apple Pay’s global reach and secure payment technology, Paymob hopes to expand the adoption of digital payments in one of the fastest-growing fintech markets in the Middle East and North Africa.

Omar Saleh, CEO of Paymob, said, “Integrating Apple Pay into our platform demonstrates our commitment to equipping merchants with cutting-edge payment tools that drive growth and improve customer experiences.”

Why it is important

The launch of Apple Pay by Paymob marks a significant step in advancing Egypt’s digital transformation in the financial sector. With a large percentage of the population still relying on cash transactions, introducing innovative payment solutions like Apple Pay can help accelerate the shift to a cashless economy.

For merchants, Apple Pay offers enhanced security features, such as biometric authentication, reducing the risk of fraud. Additionally, the convenience of contactless payments can lead to faster transaction times, improved customer satisfaction, and increased sales.

Financial technology expert Hala Nasser commented, “Paymob’s integration of Apple Pay not only aligns with global payment trends but also supports Egypt’s efforts to modernize its financial infrastructure.” This move is expected to attract a broader customer base and encourage merchants to adopt more digital tools, boosting their competitiveness in the market.

By integrating Apple Pay, Paymob continues to solidify its position as a leader in Egypt’s fintech landscape, driving financial inclusion and supporting merchants with innovative payment technologies.
