What happened
Apple Inc. has unveiled a new service plan that offers complimentary repairs for the rear camera preview issue affecting certain iPhone 14 Plus devices. According to Apple’s service programme page, the affected devices were produced between 10 April 2023 and 28 April 2024. Apple stated that this issue affects a “very small percentage” of devices. In these cases, users cannot see a preview image when using the rear camera. If a user’s iPhone 14 Plus is affected, they can check if it qualifies by entering the serial number on Apple’s project page. Apple or its authorised service providers will offer free service for eligible phones.
Furthermore, Apple stated that users who have already paid for camera repairs can reach out to request a refund. The programme will cover eligible phones for three years from the date of initial sale.
Apple sometimes launches service plans to repair its products. For example, there is a plan to fix the receivers of iPhone 12 and 12 Pro models, as well as a plan to address crackling or static noises in AirPods Pro. This new plan further demonstrates Apple’s commitment to product quality and customer satisfaction.
