GSMA announces Vivek Badrinath as Director General

Vivek Badrinath appointed Director General of GSMA

Following a rigorous selection process, the GSMA Board is pleased to announce that Vivek Badrinath will be appointed Director General and Member of the GSMA Board, effective 1st April 2025.

This follows the announcement on 4th June 2024 that Mats Granryd, the current Director General, will step down from his role after MWC Barcelona 2025, as planned. Granryd will remain as Director General until the end of March 2025, after which he will take on a new role as Special Advisor to the Board for the remainder of 2025.

Badrinath’s extensive expertise in technology and management has seen him hold several prominent leadership positions, most recently as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Management Board at Vantage Towers AG.

In 2016, Badrinath was appointed Regional CEO for Africa, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific at Vodafone, becoming a member of Vodafone’s Executive Committee. Prior to his tenure at Vodafone, he held key positions at Orange, ultimately serving as Deputy CEO for Innovation, Marketing, and Technology. In this role, he played a pivotal part in driving digital transformation, expanding market reach, and enhancing customer experience. His leadership style and achievements have earned him widespread respect within the global technology community.
