  •  Wasabi supports Australian higher education with innovative, cost-effective cloud storage solutions.
  • Their services address challenges in data access, integration, security, and cost management.
  • Wasabi’s approach simplifies IT management, offering predictability and enhanced cyber resilience.

  • Wasabi ANZ partnered with CAUDIT, the Australasian body for ICT in Higher Education and Research, solidifying its commitment to advancing educational technology leadership. This year, Wasabi continues its momentum by participating in CAUDIT’s Community Conference in Melbourne , where they will speak on a panel discussing IT innovation in universities.

Remote learning and data access

With the rise of remote learning and global research collaboration, seamless access to data and IT systems is critical. Wasabi offers agile, secure, and efficient cloud storage solutions, including a landmark peering agreement with AARNet, Australia’s pioneering research network, ensuring direct connectivity to Wasabi Cloud services at no additional cost.

  • On 16 November 2023, Charles Darwin University (CDU) in Australia’s Northern Territory partnered with Wasabi to enhance data security and compliance for its remote learners. With 70% of students studying off-campus, CDU required a robust, cost-effective Office 365 cloud backup solution. Wasabi provided a streamlined, secure infrastructure that met CDU’s needs, ensuring compliance with local regulations and enabling flexible, efficient data management.

Cloud backup integration

Integrating new storage solutions without disrupting existing systems is essential for higher education institutions. Wasabi’s S3-compatible storage provides simplicity, ease of setup, and comprehensive dashboards, making it compatible with hundreds of popular backup and data management applications.

  • In June 2024, James Cook University (JCU) in Queensland, Australia, upgraded its backup storage system by adopting Wasabi Hot Cloud Storage. Facing the need for greater scalability, cost-effectiveness, and disaster resiliency, JCU’s Technology Solutions team chose Wasabi, achieving a 5x cost reduction compared to other providers. This move ensured secure, cyclone-resistant data storage and seamless integration with their existing Veeam system.

Security and cost management

Educational institutions often struggle with unpredictable cloud storage costs and ensuring data security. Wasabi offers cost-effective, secure solutions with features like Object Lock, immutable backups, no egress fees, and options like Reserved Capacity Storage, enhancing cyber resilience while managing budgets efficiently.

About Wasabi Technologies

Wasabi is on a mission to store all the world’s data by making data storage simple, affordable, fast, and secure. If you have data to store, whether it’s backups, x-rays, surveillance videos, financial data, media and entertainment, or scientific data, Wasabi’s pledge is to always be the cheapest, fastest, most secure and reliable cloud storage in the world. It’s all we do, and we do it better than anyone.
