What happened 

Nokia has announced a partnership with TIM Brazil to expand 5G radio access network coverage across 15 Brazilian states, set to begin in January 2025. Under this agreement, Nokia will provide TIM with a variety of advanced 5G equipment from its AirScale portfolio, including baseband units, Massive MIMO radios, and Remote Radio Head products, all powered by the energy-efficient ReefShark System-on-Chip technology.

In addition to hardware, TIM will utilise Nokia’s intelligent MantaRay Networks Management system, which features AI capabilities for enhanced network oversight. Marco Di Costanzo, CTO at TIM Brazil, highlighted that this agreement signifies a key milestone in their ongoing collaboration with Nokia, focusing on technological innovation to extend 5G advancements to more Brazilians.

Tommi Uitto, president of Mobile Networks at Nokia, expressed enthusiasm for supporting TIM in delivering reliable and fast 5G connectivity through cutting-edge technology.
