Addressing the surge in connectivity and AI demand

Hong Kong’s strategic location and its role as a connectivity hub in Asia have driven a nearly 50% increase in Equinix Internet Exchange traffic over the past year. To support the growing demand for high-performance computing, HK6 will feature advanced liquid cooling technology, essential for handling high-density AI workloads. This cutting-edge solution will allow businesses to fully leverage AI’s potential without compromising on efficiency or scalability.

Commitment to sustainability and climate goals

Equinix continues to prioritise sustainability in its operations, with HK6 set to be powered entirely by renewable energy, mirroring the company’s other IBX data centres in Hong Kong. This aligns with Equinix’s global objective to achieve climate neutrality by 2030, underscoring its commitment to incorporating clean energy across its worldwide facilities.

Enhancing competitive advantage in the greater bay area

The HK6 facility is strategically positioned to bolster Equinix’s competitive edge in the Greater Bay Area, a region that is rapidly becoming a critical economic and technological hub. By providing robust infrastructure capable of supporting advanced AI workloads and ensuring seamless connectivity, Equinix is well-positioned to meet the needs of enterprises looking to expand their digital capabilities in this high-growth market.

Strengthening Hong Kong’s role as an international data hub

This investment reinforces Hong Kong’s position as a key player in the global digital economy. As the demand for data services and cloud computing grows, Equinix’s HK6 will play a vital role in facilitating international business operations, enhancing the region’s appeal as a leading destination for digital infrastructure investments.
