    • Vodacom Business partners with Anani Technologies and Unisa to create jobs through a new call centre.
    • The call centre has exceeded industry metrics, employing over 50% women, aligning with Vodacom’s inclusivity goals.

“In response to South Africa’s rising unemployment rate, Vodacom Business has collaborated with Anani Technologies and Unisa to launch a call centre aimed at providing jobs and supporting Unisa’s staff and students. This initiative demonstrates our commitment to making impactful changes in our communities,” said Videsha Proothveerajh, Director of Vodacom Business.

    Overview of the new initiative

Vodacom Business, in collaboration with Anani Technologies and Unisa, has launched a call centre designed to address South Africa’s severe unemployment crisis, which has reached a staggering 33.5% in the second quarter of 2024. This call centre not only provides much-needed jobs but also supports Unisa’s staff and students, ensuring they have access to essential mobile internet services for distance learning. With over 50% of the employees being women, this initiative is a significant step towards gender inclusivity, particularly during Women’s Month.

The call centre has already surpassed industry standards, achieving a 98% service level, an 85% first contact resolution score, and a remarkably low abandonment rate of 0.74%. These results are attributed to the extensive training provided to Anani consultants, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet the needs of Unisa’s community.

At Vodacom, we partner with likeminded brands with a shared vision and purpose to create an impact in our communities and the country. Through partnerships such as this one, we wanted to tackle the scourge of unemployment that the country is currently facing.
