    • Samsara has announced the launch of Enterprise Asset Tag, designed to meet customer demand for tracking and managing small, high-value assets.
    • By connecting critical assets to the cloud for the first time, customers can now easily capture and analyse location insights, resulting in significant operational efficiencies.

    OUR TAKE
Asset Tag leverages the millions of Samsara gateways it has in the field to create a network that enables’ tags’ to shut down these devices. With this, the company will unlock previously impossible levels of asset tracking and solve more real-world problems, and this vision has thus far become a reality. Perhaps as Samsara further connects the various aspects of physical operations, large amounts of data can be turned into valuable insights and drive real results.

    What happened

Samsara has announced the launch of Enterprise Asset Tag, designed to meet customer demand for tracking and managing small, high-value assets. The new device uses the Samsara network to improve visibility into the location of mission-critical equipment and tools. As a result, organisations can minimise downtime spent searching for lost or stolen items, reduce associated costs and simplify inventory management.

With Samsara Asset Tag, organisations can expect to:

    1. Prevent loss and recover stolen assets with advanced location tracking technology powered by Samsara’s extensive network of gateways.

    2. Reduce downtime and increase productivity: Share asset locations with field technicians through the Samsara Driver app and avoid service outages with inventory screening, which extracts summaries of assets and applies filters to identify which tools are nearby.

    3. Better manage inventory: Improve operational efficiency with integrated dashboards and easy-to-use reporting.

The powerful location tracking capabilities in Asset Tag are powered by the Samsara Network, which consists of millions of iot devices worldwide. This network coverage powered by Samsara equipment uses industrial-grade BLE technology and provides enterprise reliability designed to withstand rugged, complex physical operating environments.

    Why it’s important

The industries that power our global economy – such as transportation, oil and gas, and construction – all have complex operations that rely on specialist assets to do their day-to-day work. These assets include toolboxes, jackhammers, chemical totes and more. Repeated loss or theft of these materials can cost organisations millions of dollars each year due to manual inventory processes and lack of connectivity systems. But as sensors become more compact, complex and easy to install, they can track anything – big or small. Samsara’s Asset Tag is built around this opportunity: to provide large-scale access to and visibility into valuable assets. By connecting critical assets to the cloud for the first time, customers can now easily capture and analyse location insights, resulting in significant operational efficiencies.
