About ICANN meeting
ICANN, or the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, is a non-profit organisation responsible for overseeing domain names, IP addresses, and protocol parameters on the Internet.
The ICANN meeting serves as platform for stakeholders from around the world to discuss and address issues related to internet governance, domain names, IP addresses, and other key aspects of the internet’s infrastructure.
The 79th ICANN meeting saw the participation of over 1,700 individuals, both onsite and remotely, aimed at deliberating on diverse policy and operational issues, notably emphasising Internet governance and advancing digital cooperation.

APINIC activities
Paul Wilson, who serves as the former director general of APNIC, provided insights and statistics regarding RIR transfer policies and the promotion of IPv6 in various sessions.
He also participated in discussions addressing the issues arising from the fragmentation of the internet, and he delivered a statement regarding the role of the technical community within the multistakeholder model of Internet governance.
