AllPoints adds CityFibre multi-gig services to Aquila

  • Aquila partners can now access CityFibre multi-gig FTTP speeds up to 2.3Gbps.
  • The integration expands choice for providers using AllPoints Fibre Networks’ wholesale platform.

What happened: Aquila platform adds CityFibre multi-gig access

AllPoints Fibre Networks (APFN) has expanded its aquila wholesale platform by adding new multi-gig broadband services from CityFibre.

The update enables aquila partners to deliver faster full-fibre broadband tiers through the platform, including speeds of around 1.7Gbps and 2.3Gbps using XGS-PON technology.

Service providers already using aquila can activate the new tiers without additional integrations or operational changes. The platform aggregates several UK fibre networks into a single system, simplifying ordering, provisioning, and management for wholesale partners.

APFN said the release aims to give partners greater flexibility when designing broadband packages and competing in high-speed connectivity markets. The aquila platform already integrates infrastructure from major networks such as Openreach, BT Wholesale, CityFibre, and APFN’s own fibre footprint, providing access to tens of millions of premises across the UK.

By extending the CityFibre integration to include multi-gig tiers, APFN is positioning aquila as a marketplace where service providers can easily access faster fibre services as demand for bandwidth grows.

Why this is important

Demand for multi-gigabit connectivity is rising quickly as households and businesses adopt cloud services, video collaboration tools, and bandwidth-intensive applications. Wholesale platforms that simplify access to high-capacity networks are becoming central to the UK’s fibre ecosystem.

CityFibre has been building one of the UK’s largest independent full-fibre networks, aiming to challenge incumbent infrastructure providers by offering wholesale access to internet service providers and channel partners. Its latest wholesale products are designed to deliver multi-gig speeds through upgraded XGS-PON technology, enabling symmetrical connections well above traditional gigabit broadband.

Platforms such as aquila play a key role in this market because many service providers prefer to avoid managing multiple network contracts and integrations. By aggregating networks and services in one interface, APFN allows partners to expand coverage and introduce faster tiers without significant operational complexity.

This approach also reflects a broader trend in the UK telecoms sector. Fibre operators increasingly rely on wholesale marketplaces and platform-based distribution to reach more service providers. As full-fibre coverage expands and multi-gig speeds become more common, simplified wholesale access may help accelerate competition and adoption across the broadband market.
