    • Nebius is deploying thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra and B300 GPUs in the UK.
    • The launch strengthens the UK’s position as a hub for high-performance AI computing.

What happened: Nebius is bringing high-capacity GPU infrastructure to the UK to meet the growing demand for local AI computing

Nebius has announced the launch of its AI Cloud offering in the UK, deploying a cluster of advanced NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra (also referred to as B300) GPUs, with the roll-out expected in the fourth quarter of this year. The company emphasises the cluster will serve British businesses, academia, research institutes and public-sector organisations, enabling access to high-performance compute infrastructure closer to home.

Nebius founder and chief executive officer Arkady Volozh said the UK deployment places the company “closer to the startups, researchers, and enterprise leaders shaping what’s next.” The new data infrastructure is intended to power applications such as large language model training, AI inference, and emerging agentic systems.

    Why it’s important

The expansion is a notable step in strengthening the UK’s AI infrastructure landscape. High-performance GPU clusters enable large-scale data processing, which is essential for training sophisticated AI models. Having this capability within the UK supports data sovereignty, reduces latency, and aligns with national goals for secure, self-sufficient AI development.

Nebius’s decision to invest in the UK underscores the region’s growing importance as a base for AI and cloud innovation. It could intensify competition among AI cloud providers, driving better pricing and services for developers and enterprises. The initiative also supports strategic sectoNebiusrs such as fintech, life sciences, and research, which increasingly depend on high-performance computing to accelerate discovery and innovation.

However, real impact will depend on implementation details — including the choice of data-centre location and the country’s ability to sustain energy and cooling demands for such large-scale deployments.
