    • The deal will boost performance and reliability for AI workloads across industries

What happened: Verizon partners with AWS to enhance AI cloud infrastructure

Verizon has signed a deal with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to build new long-haul fibre routes to connect AWS data centres. This partnership, called Verizon AI Connect, is designed to provide the high-capacity, low-latency network infrastructure necessary to support the next wave of AI innovation. The fibre routes will enhance the performance and reliability of AI workloads, helping AWS scale its cloud offerings to meet the exponential data growth driven by generative AI applications.

This new fibre network marks a significant step in Verizon’s commitment to building out its infrastructure to support the growing demands of AI and other high-performance computing applications. The collaboration follows previous joint engagements between Verizon and AWS, including Verizon’s adoption of AWS as its preferred strategic cloud provider and the development of private mobile edge computing solutions aimed at enterprise customers.

Verizon’s network infrastructure will work in tandem with AWS’s cloud services, providing a more robust foundation for AI applications across industries, including healthcare, retail, manufacturing, and entertainment. The fibre network will be pivotal in ensuring that businesses and developers can scale their AI applications securely and efficiently.
