    • Offers mobile, fixed-line, data, and wholesale telecom services across Africa
    • Operates Tier IV data centres and extensive terrestrial and subsea network links

    Company overview and operations

Sudatel Telecom Group was founded in 1993 and is headquartered in Khartoum, Sudan. It is a public company listed on regional stock markets. The firm delivers fixed-line and mobile services, including mobile coverage through subsidiaries like Sudani, Expresso, and Chinguitel. It provides data and wholesale connectivity services within Sudan and neighboring African markets. Sudatel manages one of Africa’s largest Tier III+ data centres for SaaS, PaaS, and hosting solutions. Through its deeply integrated infrastructure, Sudatel offers carrier services and supports enterprise connectivity.

The company maintains shareholder diversity, including government ownership, regional banks, businesses, and institutional investors. It is notable for operating one of the continent’s broadest fibre networks spanning thousands of kilometres of terrestrial and subsea cable. Sudatel also supports regional integration by facilitating interconnectivity and infrastructure sharing across countries. It aims to be at the core of digital ecosystems across North and West Africa.

    Infrastructure, innovation and strategic impact

Sudatel controls major strategic assets in African connectivity. It holds substantial shares in subsea cable systems such as EASSy, SAS1, SAS2 and the ACE continental cable. The firm has invested heavily in terrestrial fibre spanning national borders and enhancing broadband reach. It also provides mobile coverage via 2G, 3G, 4G (and trials towards 5G). Sudani, its mobile arm, delivers broad coverage across Sudan.

Sudatel recently partnered to deploy FTTH networks with leading pan-African infrastructure firms. Through these moves, it advances home broadband and digital access nationwide. The company plays a foundational role in e-government, enterprise digitalisation, and regional telecom infrastructure. It positions itself as a bridge for telecom growth between Africa, the Arab world, and beyond. Its network and hosting capabilities help shape robust ICT ecosystems across its markets.
