    • CTN delivers affordable, uncapped 4G/LTE broadband and fixed wireless across Lilongwe, helping connect homes, schools and events.
    • With founding leadership from Africa-wide telecom experts, CTN is expanding via USTDA-supported studies and innovative community outreach.

    CTN Malawi: Connecting underserved areas

Converged Technology Networks (CTN), licensed by MACRA, launched in 2019 to tackle unmet demand for home broadband across Malawi. Based in Lilongwe, it provides uncapped 4G/LTE services and fixed wireless plans from 10 Mbps to 40 Mbps, all on a no fair use policy basis.

CTN Malawi: Local leadership with continental experience

Founded by Brian and Tony Longwe in 2017, CTN’s founders bring deep experience in building networks across Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Botswana and other African markets. Their vision centres on delivering affordable, fast internet—evidenced by their motto “Internet for the rest of us”.

    CTN Malawi: Community-first engagement

CTN has expanded internet access to over 250 homes across more than 15 communities, spanning semi-urban areas like Area 25 C and Njewa. It pilots school connectivity programmes benefiting 4,000 students and 80 teachers. CTN also supports events such as the Lilongwe BookFest by providing free wi-fi.

CTN Malawi: Backed by USTDA feasibility study

In 2022, USTDA granted CTN a digital connectivity feasibility study to explore fixed wireless and fibre expansion for underserved populations. CTN CEO Brian Longwe remarked the study supports “bringing affordable broadband to all parts of Malawi”.

CTN Malawi: Services for consumers and enterprises

CTN’s packages include Tiyeni Standard (10 Mbps), Premium (20 Mbps), and Executive (40 Mbps), with optional VPS hosting for businesses. Equipment installs come as packages with rent‑to‑own options, and customers benefit from CPE and setup support.

    CTN Malawi: Facing market challenges

Malawi remains one of the least connected nations globally. While mobile giant Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) and MTL dominate, CTN is building in niche zones overlooked by incumbents. Expansion through USTDA support and aerostat technology demonstrates ambition to extend beyond urban centres.
