  • NOV Rig Technologies designs and manufactures high-end drilling rigs and equipment—such as top drives, drawworks, blowout preventers, mud pumps, and pipe handling systems—for onshore and offshore energy exploration.
  • The division also offers comprehensive aftermarket services, including spare parts, equipment rental, repair, remote monitoring, and customer training, supporting customers across the rig lifecycle.

NOV Rig Technologies: Powering safer, smarter drilling

NOV Rig Technologies is a division of NOV Inc. (formerly National Oilwell Varco), a Houston-based leader with over 150 years in oilfield equipment and services. It provides integrated drilling solutions—from rig systems to supporting technology—designed to enhance safety, efficiency and reliability in the most demanding environments .

NOV Rig Technologies: State-of-the-art rig systems

The business unit engineers world-class land and offshore rigs, including advanced models like the AC Ideal and ME series rigs. These systems boast power outputs ranging from 700 to 3,000 hp and high hook load capacities, enabling operations in harsh terrains—from deserts to arctic regions. Rigs feature intelligent automation and energy recovery systems to optimise fuel use and reduce operational downtime.

NOV Rig Technologies: Aftermarket lifecycle support

Beyond manufacturing, NOV provides full lifecycle care. This includes spare parts supply, field repairs, equipment rental, remote diagnostics and monitoring, and client training through simulators and virtual classrooms. Their aftermarket services ensure rigs remain productive and safe over time.

NOV Rig Technologies: Digitisation and efficiency gains

NOV integrates digital tools into rig operations—from real-time remote monitoring to secure cyber-physical systems. The division recently launched the PowerBlade energy-recovery system, capturing kinetic energy to trim fuel use by up to 30%, illustrating its innovation focus.
