    • Mohamed Abdallah has been appointed CEO of Vodacom International Markets, overseeing operations in Egypt, DRC, Lesotho, Mozambique, and Tanzania.
    • This leadership change is part of Vodacom’s Vision 2030 strategy to streamline operations and enhance customer experience across its African markets.

What happened: Vodacom appoints Mohamed Abdallah as CEO of international markets and Vodafone Egypt

Vodacom Group has appointed Mohamed Abdallah as CEO of its International Markets division while he continues to lead Vodafone Egypt. In this expanded role, Abdallah will oversee operations in Egypt, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Mozambique, and Tanzania. The CEOs of these country operations will report directly to him, and he will report to Vodacom Group CEO Shameel Joosub. This leadership change follows the departure of Diego Gutierrez in April, who held the position for seven years.

Abdallah joined Vodafone Egypt in 1998 and has held various senior roles, including Enterprise and Consumer Business Director. His appointment aligns with Vodacom’s Vision 2030 strategy, aiming to streamline operations and enhance customer experience across its African markets.

    Why it’s important

The consolidation of leadership under Abdallah is intended to unify Vodacom’s operations across multiple African markets, potentially leading to more cohesive strategic planning and execution. By centralising oversight, Vodacom aims to improve operational efficiency and drive growth in its international markets.
