    • CoreSite has chosen Nokia to deliver advanced IP routing solutions across its network of 30 data centres in the U.S.
    • The upgrade will support growing demand for AI, HPC workloads, and multicloud interconnection from nearly 40,000 customer connections.

What happened: CoreSite enhances network infrastructure with Nokia’s IP routing solutions

CoreSite, a U.S.-based tower company, has partnered with Nokia to enhance its network infrastructure by deploying advanced core and edge IP routing solutions across its 30 data centres. This upgrade is designed to accommodate the increasing demand for AI and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads, as well as multicloud interconnection services from nearly 40,000 customer connections.

The deployment will utilize Nokia’s 7250 Interconnect Router (IXR-s) and 7750 Service Router (SR) platforms, leveraging Nokia’s FP5 silicon for consistent performance under growing traffic loads. Additionally, the integration will employ Nokia’s Service Router Operating System (SR OS) to ensure seamless integration with CoreSite’s existing systems.

Chris Malayter, Vice President of Network and Interconnection at CoreSite, emphasized the importance of this upgrade in meeting market demands and providing customers with reliable access to mission-critical applications. Vach Kompella, Senior Vice President and General Manager of IP Networks at Nokia, highlighted the collaboration’s role in managing increased traffic demands while ensuring low latency and reliable interconnection services essential to the modern digital economy.

    Why it’s important

This infrastructure upgrade reflects the industry’s broader trend towards enhancing network capabilities to support data-intensive applications, including AI and HPC. By partnering with Nokia, CoreSite aims to provide scalable and reliable connectivity solutions to its customers, ensuring they can meet the evolving demands of the digital economy.

The integration of advanced IP routing solutions is crucial for maintaining low latency and high-performance connectivity, which are essential for applications requiring real-time data processing and large-scale data transfers. As enterprises increasingly rely on multicloud environments and AI-driven applications, robust network infrastructure becomes a critical component of their operational success.
