A product notice looks like a narrow piece of safety administration, but for a regulated health-products group it is also a commercial instrument: it tells hospitals, clinicians, distributors, patients and regulators which message is official, what action is required, how the evidence should be interpreted and where responsibility sits when the underlying product is already in use.
