Why it is important

Digital sovereignty is absolutely critical for Pacific nations. Controlling their own internet infrastructure ensures resilience. It directly mitigates risks from external disruptions.

Furthermore, APNIC’s workshops tackled foundational technical needs. Secure peering reduces costs and accelerates local speeds significantly. Efficient IPv4 use maximises scarce global resources. These elements are fundamental for robust digital economies.

Ultimately, building local expertise empowers the region sustainably. It fosters genuine self-reliance in internet governance. This directly supports vital development goals. Enhanced connectivity unlocks widespread socio-economic progress. It strengthens the Pacific’s global standing considerably.
