What happened: du joins FreeMove to expand global mobile reach

The FreeMove Alliance, a global mobile telecommunications partnership uniting Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Telia and TIM, has signed a strategic agreement with UAE-based telecom operator du to offer enhanced connectivity services for multinational customers (MNCs) operating across the Middle East and beyond. This collaboration marks a significant step in FreeMove’s regional expansion strategy and makes du the first operator in the UAE to join the alliance.

Under the deal, du’s corporate clients will gain access to FreeMove Alliance’s extensive international operator network, spanning Europe, the United States, and other key markets. This includes benefits such as enterprise mobility solutions, centralised contract management, and global service support — aimed at simplifying mobile services for companies with operations in multiple countries. In return, FreeMove members can now offer seamless UAE connectivity to their multinational clients.

Why it’s important

This agreement expands FreeMove’s footprint in the Middle East. For international businesses, especially those active in the Gulf region, this means more reliable, cross-border telecom service. The UAE is a growing hub for global companies. Sectors like energy, logistics and finance rely on seamless mobile coverage. With this deal, du can offer stronger international services to its enterprise customers.

For FreeMove, it’s a strategic entry into a fast-growing market. As General Manager Selma Avdagic Tisljar said, the goal is to offer “seamless, top-notch mobile connectivity.” du’s Chief Commercial Officer, Karim Benkirane, added that the partnership marks a key step in delivering “comprehensive global connectivity solutions.”
