What happened: e& and Digicel Partner to strengthen voice services and combat telecom fraud
Telecommunications giants e& and Digicel Group have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at boosting Digicel’s international voice services across the Americas. Under the agreement, e& will become Digicel’s partner for managing inbound and outbound international voice traffic across 24 markets, helping streamline operations and enhance service quality.
The partnership arrives amid escalating fraud threats targeting the global telecoms industry. To counteract this, the companies are deploying advanced AI-driven fraud detection and prevention technologies. These tools will enable real-time monitoring, proactive threat mitigation, and reinforced security protocols to better protect consumers, operators, and the wider telecommunications ecosystem.
By merging their technological strengths and industry expertise, e& and Digicel aim to set a new benchmark for secure, resilient and efficient international voice traffic management. The initiative is part of Digicel’s broader strategy to optimise costs and refine its wholesale business, especially as over-the-top (OTT) services and Voice over LTE (VoLTE) continue to reshape the telecom landscape.

Why it is important
This collaboration represents a substantial step forward in securing international voice traffic at a time when telecom fraud is becoming more sophisticated and pervasive. AI-powered defences are expected to provide a much-needed layer of protection in safeguarding customers and networks alike.
For Digicel, the partnership offers an opportunity to streamline infrastructure investments and future-proof its operations. Liam Donnelly, Digicel Group Chief Business Officer, noted that the alliance not only improves service quality but also unlocks potential for broader collaboration across international business lines—generating added value for both firms and their customer bases.
Meanwhile, e& is leveraging the partnership to further expand its global footprint. Nabil Baccouche, Group Chief Carrier and Wholesale Officer at e&, highlighted the establishment of a new strategic wholesale hub in Miami, reinforcing e&’s commitment to delivering next-generation telecom services across the Caribbean, the Americas, and beyond. This initiative underpins both companies’ shared ambitions for long-term growth and operational scalability.
