NetUK2 2025 brings UK tech community together in London

  • NetUK2 2025 takes place in July, offering talks and workshops on the latest technology trends.
  • Speakers will focus on digital transformation and how innovation is shaping industries across the UK.

What happened: Event returns with expanded programme and stronger academic focus

NetUK2 2025, one of the UK’s emerging tech networking events, will take place on 7–8 July in London. Organised as a platform for discussion and collaboration, the event will feature keynote talks, workshops, and networking sessions aimed at both industry professionals and tech enthusiasts. According to the event programme, the agenda includes sessions on network automation, infrastructure, and policy. Notable speakers include engineers and researchers from organisations such as Jisc, GÉANT, and the University of Cambridge.

The event, held at the Imperial College London campus, also includes technical demonstrations and open forums where attendees can engage directly with technology experts. It follows the structure of the previous NetUK event in 2023, but expands its focus with more workshops and a wider participant base from the academic and research networking community.

Why this is important

NetUK2 2025 reflects a growing effort within the UK to consolidate knowledge sharing around advanced networking technologies. While the event remains smaller in scale compared to major tech conferences like London Tech Week, its specialised focus on research networks and technical infrastructure gives it a distinct relevance for IT professionals, network operators, and researchers.

The discussions at NetUK2 take on greater importance as the UK continues to invest in digital infrastructure and education. For instance, Jisc’s ongoing work on the Janet network—a national research and education network—underscores the need for forums like NetUK2 to support collaboration and development. The inclusion of representatives from GÉANT, the pan-European data network for research and education, further highlights the event’s role in shaping future connectivity frameworks.

In an industry often dominated by large-scale commercial expos, smaller, technically focused gatherings like NetUK2 can offer more actionable insights and deeper conversations. As digital skills become central to the UK’s economic strategy, such events contribute to both innovation and talent development in network engineering.
