What happened: RIPE confirms leadership transition through community-driven process
Mirjam Kühne has been selected to serve again as RIPE Chair following her current term from 2020 to 2025. Anna Wilson will take over as RIPE Vice-Chair from Niall O’Reilly at RIPE 91 in October 2025. Niall O’Reilly’s term also began in 2020. This marks the second time the RIPE Chair and Vice-Chair have been selected under the RIPE community’s established nominating committee (NomCom) process, where committee members are drawn at random from a pool of volunteers. After nominations and community feedback, the RIPE NCC Executive Board confirms that the selection process has been correctly followed.
Kühne has been involved in the RIPE community almost since its beginning. She has worked in community building at the RIPE NCC and in programme management at the Internet Society (ISOC). During her first term as Chair, she focused on inclusivity and diversity in the RIPE community. Her efforts supported the RIPE Diversity Task Force, the RIPE Code of Conduct Task Force, and mentorship and fellowship programmes.

Why this is important
The appointments of Kühne and Wilson reflect ongoing efforts to maintain community-driven and transparent leadership within the RIPE community. RIPE is one of five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) and is responsible for coordinating IP address distribution across Europe, the Middle East and parts of Central Asia.
Anna Wilson has been an active community member and has chaired two RIPE Working Groups. She has also served as a member of the ASO AC and has been involved in other technical communities such as GÉANT. In recognition of her work, she received the GÉANT Community Award. The RIPE NCC has said it looks forward to working with both Mirjam and Anna over the coming years.
