What happened:iWay selects Nokia and Kyndryl for data centre upgrade
Swiss ISP iWay has selected Nokia’s Data Centre Fabric (DCF) and Event-Driven Automation (EDA) platform alongside Kyndryl’s network management services to modernise its data-centre operations. A proof-of-concept in Zurich led to an initial deployment comprising 32 leaf switches and two spine switches, fully automated via the EDA platform.
Kyndryl’s Paul Savill highlights that such automation improves security and regulatory compliance and reflects a growing demand among operators integrating new technologies into existing infrastructure. Research from Kyndryl indicates that 84 per cent of telecom business leaders expect AI to be essential to their strategic goals in the next three years, while 79 per cent across industries feel pressure to modern-ise infrastructure for AI compatibility.

Why it’s important
The primary goal has been shifting towards event-driven automation and digital sovereignty in the European data center landscape, and this is expressed in this agreement. Traditional manual configuration approaches have been more and more seen as unsuccessful and vulnerable about an increased likelihood of human error as well as potential security lapses. By establishing Nokia’s Data Center Fabric and Event-Driven Automation solutions, iWay has proven itself as one of the early adopters in creating an infrastructure that has been designed to handle the future integration of artificial intelligence and advanced digital services in along with today’s connectivity demands.
The procedure illustrates a growing industry consensus that automation, agility, and regulatory compliance are all necessary for establishing an edge over rivals and are no longer optional. This partnership is noteworthy because it demonstrates how network technology providers and enterprise service specialists, for example Nokia and Kyndryl, can work in tandem to establish deployments that are safe, scalable, and effective. More operators are predicted to follow iWay’s blueprint as regulatory pressures intensify and data sovereignty becomes strategic significance, increasing upward investment in fully automated, enhanced a data center environments.
